High School Cybersecurity Opportunities

NEISD's goal was to create a space that prepares students for the workforce and introduce them to an industry that has infinite potential.

The Academy of Cyber Security addresses a critical need in today's workforce. San Antonio is "Cyber City, USA" and the need for training for Cyber Security principals has never been greater. In this academy, students will learn the fundamentals of network security, system security, and cloud security.

The Cybersecurity program of study includes the occupations and educational opportunities related to planning, implementing, upgrading, or monitoring security measure for the protection of computer networks and information. This program of study may also include exploration into responding to computer security breaches and virus and administering network security measures.

In the Cybersecurity program of study, students will be able to prepare for a career in Cybersecurity through planning, implementing, upgrading, and/or monitoring security measures for the protection of computer networks and information. College coursework is embedded in the program, and students can graduate with an associate's degree, industry certifications and portfolios that feature long-term projects and other examples of their work.

CyberTexas has encouraged area students in high school to participate. CyberTexas helped arrange stipends for high school teachers (coaches) and mentors from Idaho National Labs (INL).
